NOC / SOC – Managed Services & Managed Security Manager

Role and Responsibilities

The ATLAS NOC/SOC serves as the central coordination point for the monitoring and reporting functions of the traditional data center and Microsoft Azure operations for customers. The NOC/SOC provides enterprise-wide operational monitoring and reporting on infrastructure and performance metrics related to network, servers, capacity, outages, security, enterprise application subsystems, etc. This individual will lead NOC/SOC operations and will be responsible for further design, enhancement, and management of its capabilities, as well as for the on-boarding of new customers into the ATLAS program.

  • Travel: Up to 30%


  • Oversee all NOC/SOC activities and tickets, with a focus on maintaining uptime, reliability, and quality of service for MSP customers.

  • Work hands-on with Microsoft Azure technologies providing operational support to customers.

  • Facilitate and support security posturing and architectural discussions with customers to understand business requirements in order to assist in the selection and on-boarding of cloud reference architectures.

  • Assess a diverse operational landscape and determine industry best practices using Microsoft Azure cloud tools for automation and orchestration of the NOC/SOC primary modalities.

  • Provide Microsoft Azure Cloud strategic vision that enables innovation and seeks to leverage IT trends that can create business value consistent with the company's requirements and expectations.

  • Leading the management, operations, and enhancements of 24x7 NOC/SOC operations.

  • Identifying and helping pursue/onboard new customers for the NOC/SOC.

  • Ensuring adequate coverage for the 24x7 NOC/SOC so that data center and network operations are properly monitored and that service issues are reported and resolved in accordance with customer requirements.

  • Developing and maintaining NOC/SOC policies, processes, and procedures to ensure consistent and effective NOC/SOC operations.

  • Providing management and supervision of NOC/SOC staff.

  • Providing coaching and mentoring to NOC/SOC staff to ensure personnel is working as efficiently as possible in a customer-focused and team-oriented environment.

  • Evaluating, recommending, and implementing enterprise-wide tools and processes to enhance existing monitoring capabilities.

  • Coordinating with appropriate engineering, security, and management teams to resolve and report on issues.

  • Timely and accurate operational performance reporting to customers.

  • Leading the NOC/SOC with a focus on proactive monitoring and service restoration.

  • Leading efforts to continuously monitor, detect, and analyze events impacting customer monitored assets, to increase situational awareness of network operations or network security events that threaten the operations of customer networks.

  • Monitor news outlets for security events, exploits and critical advisories for multiple vendors and provide mitigation strategy recommendations.

  • Managing the development and delivery of NOC/SOC deliverables to customers.

  • Recommending and implementing NOC/SOC enhancements to ensure focus on continuous improvement.

  • Participating in special projects as required.

Preferred Requirements (not all are mandatory):

  • Past experience supporting highly scalable, available, and elastic solutions that implement industry best practices using Microsoft Azure

  • Prior experience contributing to large-scale initiatives on the Azure Cloud

  • Prior experience leading product-group support teams, preferably in a 24x7 environment.

  • Experience with team leadership, IT operations, and execution of multiple simultaneous and/or large projects

  • Experience in cloud operations and service management technologies in an enterprise environment

  • Experience in implementing hybrid cloud architecture and operational procedures

  • In-depth understanding of native Microsoft Cloud Enterprise Mobility + Security offerings (EMS E5/M365 M5)

  • Previous experience with Azure Log Analytics

  • Previous experience with Azure Security Center

  • Previous experience with Azure Sentinel

  • Automation experience using ARM/PowerShell

  • Previous vendor management experience
